Conversation hijacking occurs daily in life, but do gospel-workers also do it? To understand hijacking, let’s learn from the world of bird-watching.

A ministry leader was exasperated with fundraising and said humbly (but sadly), “I guess we will have to do more with less.” A friend, Lauren Libby, President of Transworld Radio, heard the comment and said, “How about doing more with more?”

When January 1 rolls around, I sometimes find myself demotivated in funding. I moan, “My budget has increased. How will I ever find enough money for the next 12 months?” I call it the January Funding Blues. 

Nowhere does Jesus condemn the rich for being rich. Nor does Paul. The problem is wanting to be rich. Not possessing wealth, but longing for it leads to trouble—big trouble—as we shall see.
